So much has happened since my last post nearly 3 years ago that I decided it was time for a fresh start. You can still visit The Traveling Scarf here to read my other adventures! A lot of things have changed but some remain the same… Gumbo is still around but now strutting a slender new frame (aka he is no longer the fattest Chihuahua in the world!). Still married, managed to last almost 5 years without killing each other. I still have my traveling scarf, although it’s a little less traveled because its spot in the suitcase has been replaced by all things running. I’m a runner now… not only when things are chasing me either… Patrick is a runner now too, however he will tell you he hates it (he’s lying). So where exactly have we been the last 3 years?
From the last time I wrote we have visited 3 new countries Tanzania, Kenya and Italy and returned back to the States for 2 years where Patrick and I purchased our first home together in Reston, VA. I became a certified personal trainer, taught some classes, joined Orangetheory, walked dogs and even gave bartending a go!

I joined an awesome run club and made the best friends of my life. I ran my first half marathon in Uganda and didn’t die so I decided to run 21 more, along with 6 5Ks, 1 8K, 3 10Ks, 4 10 milers, 1 20K, 2 full marathons and 12 relay races. I was able to see 14 states in the process! My goal is to run a race longer than a half marathon in all 50 states. Although, I won’t be knocking too many more states off within the next 2-3 years as I write this blog post from Nairobi, Kenya.

Ken ya believe it?? back in Africa for round 2. Been a little bit of a rough week for me and the tiniest diplomat but are trying to look on the bright side. You see what happened was that I spent too much time in America, the land of convenience and instant gratification! Adjusting back to African time, where the answers are always yes but doesn’t always mean yes. We are cooped up in a one bedroom apartment in the meantime, Gumbo enjoys laying outside on the balcony but wishes the sun would make more of an appearance. Weather has been about in the 60’s, much nicer than the depths of hell otherwise known as Northern Virginia! Although I did not pack for 50’s and 60’s! Hoping for some warmer weather soon or else people might think I’m a pauper!
Did some African things over the weekend, Got to feed some giraffes, saw some orphaned baby elephants… you know the usual haha!

Hoping to get settled soon! Miss everyone terribly!
